In the 50s and 60s, Automotive designers used paper, pen and clay to come up with design changes – instead of computer and cookie cutter. It took a couple of years to finalize the design and work on the die and production line changes.

Often, the full size clays would have different driver and passenger designs so that one clay could show both designs. Below are a few examples of design studies in clay.
